Our Wario Land: Shake It! review copy showed up today, so I’ll be playing a lot of that this weekend. I booted up the game this afternoon and played it for about an hour. I have something to admit, though; I’ve never played any of the Wario Land games before, so this is my first Wario Land title. When Nintendo announced Shake It! for Wii I decided that I’d make this my first foray into the Wario Land series. Thus far, I am liking the game, but not really blown away by it (I wasn’t expecting to be). The game has a nice visual style and seems to deliver the same Wario Land gameplay the franchise is liked for — plenty of platforming and smashing through things — but it feels decidedly like a handheld game, rather than a console game. I could see myself enjoying Wario Land on the go here and there, but it doesn’t seem to be the kind of game that you become totally engrossed in and play for hours on end.
If I have the time, I’m also going to play some Star Wars: The Force Unleashed this weekend.
