Wesley Snipes Wants A Wii (Wii Town)

January 23rd, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Wii News

I’m not exactly sure what ‘Wii Town’ is, but I’m guessing it’s a place somewhere at the Sundance Festival. That or something Wesley Snipes made up during this interview.

It’s sad to see Wesley Snipes, the actor famous for the Blade movies hit a low point in his career. Not to mention his run ins with the IRS. You never win those battles.

Apparently, at the Sundance Festival, Snipes wanted to get his hands on some Wii action. He’s not a gamer but he does mention he wants to lose his ‘gaming virginity’ to the Nintendo Wii. Definitely a good choice for your first time.

Wii-kly Update: Two WiiWare, and One Virtual Console Title

January 23rd, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Wii News

Today’s listing of WiiWare, and Virtual Console releases are all games I can honestly say I never heard of. The WiiWare games sound like ones you might want to miss. Glide Hockey? I am rather intrigued by MUSHA though. The story sounds like something that was stolen by The Matrix movies, and I’m surprised I’ve never heard of it.

Whatever your cup of tea is, here are your Wii Shop Channel releases for this week:

The Conduit Improvement Trailer

January 23rd, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Wii News

It’s easy to say that The Conduit is one of the most anticipated games releasing this year. In the video game world, some (myself included) have compared the FPS to the Nintendo 64 hit ‘Goldeneye’. Setting such a high standard for a game can really only setup for disappointment. There is a chance though, that all of our pre-conceived notions can come true, and The Conduit will truly blow us away.

This trailer shows off some gameplay portions of The Conduit, showing us how much The Conduit has grown during its development. The game is looking gorgeous at this point, and I think in the end SEGA will look like a genius for picking up the publishing rights to it.

Top 5 Games/Franchises Deserving Of A Wii Continuation

January 23rd, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Wii News

In 2009, there’s at least one first party franchise that will see a Wii release, with Punch-Out!. Its been since the SNES days that we’ve seen a new Punch-Out!, but with the Wii it seemed like perfect time to bring it back. There are still games, and franchises out there that still scream for continuance. This list is the games, or franchises that I think are most worthy of a return.

SimAnimals Trailer; Playing Fetch With A Bear

January 23rd, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Wii News

I remember back when the first Sims game was unleashed upon the world. Playing it on my dad’s old Gateway laptop when 1GB ram was unheard of, and the idea of simulating the idea of human life was intriguing. That intrigue has turned to disgust, as its become the most milked franchise in the history of gaming. All I need for proof is the latest trailer from the EA game, SimAnimals.

I’m not sure what I hate about the trailer so much. The reason it disturbs me is that it’s obviously being marketed towards kids. Which wouldn’t be a bad thing if it didn’t show the kids smacking a badger with a stick, or playing fetch with a bear. I think having one Crocodile Hunter, or my favorite The Turtleman (Kentucky’s version of the Crocodile Hunter) is enough to have unleashed on our wildlife. We don’t need anymore “in-training”.

Billy Bob Thorton Discusses Deadly Creatures

January 23rd, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Wii News

It says quite a bit for your casting talents, when you can get two of Hollywood’s most badass stars to provide voice work in your game. They might only be doing it for the benjamins, but Billy Bob Thorton and Dennis Hopper always bring flair to their roles. It will be interesting to see how the dialogue shapes up between them in Deadly Creatures.

I don’t want to get your hopes up too much about this video, it’s very short and has limited face time for Billy Bob Thorton and Dennis Hopper. Anytime Billy Bob Thorton talks about video games, it deserves play time though. I especially liked his reference of the spider and scorpion comparing them to old school westerns.

Mario & Sonic Heading To The Winter Olympics (Rumor)

January 23rd, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Wii News

It’s not a very subtle picture, in terms of giving clues to gamers about upcoming game releases. Nintendo Power has been notorious for this throughout the years, sprinkling hints of their releases in different issues.

This mag scan, is from the Spanish Nintendo magazine, Nintendo Acción (Nintendo Action). In the scan, it is speculated that Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympics will be announced in the next issue of the magazine.

SegaNerds has provided a rough translation of the headline, “Who are these two and why do they come to see each other? Find out all the details on the mystery game in the next magazine. But before that, here are some clues: Games, Olympics, Cold, Its winter…”

Niki - Rock ‘n’ Ball - Keep Rollin’

January 23rd, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Wii News

Niki - Rock ‘n’ Ball has been announced for North American release next week, January 26th. It will be on sell via, Wiiware, and will cost 500 Wii points. Pretty good deal for a full WiiWare game. The game is being developed by Bplus, an indie developer coming out of Austria.

After viewing the trailer, I must say I’m intrigued by the simple but engaging gameplay. In games of its type, it all really comes down to level design, so time will tell if it delivers in that regard.

Tenchu: Shadow Assassins Reviewed By Girls Gone Wild (NSFW)

January 23rd, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Wii News

This video is pretty much a joke, but it’s a sexy joke. Expect to see plenty of breasts with Tenchu logos covering them up, and a random tiger thrown in for good measure. The voice acting from the in-game characters still disappoints, if you happen to be paying attention.

Winter - The Game That Never Was, But Possibly Could Be

January 23rd, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Wii News

‘Development Limbo’, ‘Dev Hell’, these are just a couple of names given to games that just can’t quite make it out of the development process and actually be published. The Conduit was in this development limbo for awhile, before SEGA finally decided to take a shot on it. After reading IGN’s exclusive look at Winter, I have a gut feeling someone out there will take a chance.

Winter, is a project that was secretly being worked on by n-Space. The details of the story haven’t fully been released, but as of now we know that it follows an EMT worker, Mia. She’s stuck in a midwest town that is being blanketed by an un-natural snow storm. She, of course has lost her memory and must try to survive, while trying to figure out what the hell is going on.
