Nintendo Wii

Written by Dan Collins It’s safe to say that the Nintendo Wii is the nation’s favourite console this year after the latest set of results show that it has dominated the games market by 52% in January and selling nearly 700,000 units in this month alone.

With such a variety of games and add-ons available on the Wii it’s no wonder that they completely outsold their competitors by such a phenomenal amount this year. Part of the reason the Nintendo Wii has met such great success is down to the fact it is unlike any other console currently on the market. Using hand held motion controlled sensors and balance boards to interact with the games employs the user to get involved in the games, rather than just playing them.

A Little Bit of Company History

Nintendo is the popular company that introduced and popularized video games in the middle of the 1970s. However, this company does not solely produce video games. In fact, it initially started with the production of handmade Hanafuda, which are popular Japanese gaming cards. Later, the company tried out other niche businesses completely different from the Hanafuda production. During the electronic era, the company launched another business—the video game systems and portable ones, too. Portable video games that Nintendo produced are the Game and Watch line, Game Boy Series and Nintendo DS and DSi. Among its home video game product lines are Color TV Game, Nintendo NES, SNES, Virtual Box, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Game Cube and Wii Consoles.

A Nintendo Wii Bundle Is A One Stop Shop

May 6th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Articles

Written by Michelle Bery By now you have certainly heard of the revolutionary new video game platform, the Nintendo Wii. Unlike anything that has come before it, the Wii makes the players part of the game with its revolutionary new control system. The Wii controller is a wireless remote control that senses movements in three dimensions. That remote sensing technology allows you to eschew the conventional buttons and joysticks that have been the standard for video games for decades. Instead, of pushing buttons or moving a stick, you move your arms; gesturing, swinging, poking, and sometimes flailing your way through the game! If you want to experience this amazing new game platform for yourself it can be difficult to know exactly what to purchase in order to have everything you need to enjoy the Wii experience. That is why the Nintendo Wii bundle is such an enticing option.

Purchased by itself, the Wii comes with a remote control - officially called a Wiimote - and a Nunchuk controller; an analog joystick that attaches to the Wiimote using a long cable. The Nunchuk also has the internal accelerometer that the Wiimote possesses, so it too is capable of motion sensing as well. The Nunchuk is to be used in conjunction with the Wiimote and it serves to enhance the game play experience. Further, the Wii includes all the power cords, audio-video cords, and the sensor bar and stands that you need to get started. Most important, the Wii includes Wii Sports, a game that lets you test your skills on the golf course, baseball diamond, bowling alley, boxing ring, and tennis court; it is the perfect platform to demonstrate the things the Wii can do. However, for those who want to see all the Wii is capable of doing, then you need more than the basic offerings, and a Nintendo Wii Bundle can deliver precisely that.

Hottest Video Games and System is the Nintendo Wii and Wii Fit

May 6th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Articles

Written by Christopher King Nintendo, a leader in video game consoles has struck another home run with their latest offering. The Nintendo Wii is a revolutionary video game system that puts the player right in the middle of the action. Most video game systems have controllers with several buttons which control different movements of the characters within the game. The Nintendo Wii is different. It’s controller senses movements of the player and responds accordingly. If a player is playing tennis on the Wii, they will hold the controller in their hand and swing, just as if they controller was a tennis racquet. Same goes with bowling; The player holds the controller as if it’s the bowling ball.

Wii Sports Resort, more stock problems for Nintendo?

May 6th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Articles

Written by Video Games Nintendo announced Wii Sports Resort in 2008 for release sometime in 2009. Wii Sports Resort has been referred to as the follow up to Wii Sports, or an improved version of Wii Sports.

This new game builds on the Wii’s motion sensitive controller by providing a more accurate version of a sports game. To do this Nintendo are producing a new piece of hardware called WiiMotion Plus. WiiMotion Plus is a hardware dongle that clips onto the base on the Wii remote hand controller.  This enables the Wii remote to track a player’s movements far more accurately than before.

Just like the Wii balance board, WiiMotion Plus could almost become a platform on its own. Electronic Arts have already announced the new version of Tiger Woods PGS Tour and EA Sports Tennis will support WiiMotion Plus.
